The Barn Owl is another 're-do' from an earlier drawing. This one is lighter and less heavy than the previous image. I love the faces of Barn Owls. One evening camping in Death Valley with friends, we were treated to several Barn Owls 'buzzing' our campsite. They are truly amazing and beautiful birds of prey.
Barn Owls are the most widespread of all owl species and are found on every continent except Antarctica. It feeds primarily on small vertebrates, particularly rodents, but also small bats, birds and reptiles. The Barn Owl can readily be distinguished from other owls by its unique shape, color and voice. Barn Owls grow to about 15 to 20 inches in height and weigh roughly 20 ounces. These owls consume twice as much food for their weight as other owls.
