The Black-Capped Chickadee illustration was commissioned by Stackpole Books for Laura Erickson's 101 Ways to Help Birds. The line art version was completed in 2005 and the digital tinting added in 2007. I have a pair of these birds that live in my yard. I love their distintive chirping and their energetic way of hopping from branch to branch while looking about them.
