The Blue-Ringed Octopus was completely redone in April 2009, although the original was a different sub-species. What amazes me about these animals is how much they can vary their shape, color and even skin texture. I've drawn a few other octopus - Atlantic or Common, California Two-Spotted and Giant Pacific Octopus - but if you'd like to see another species illustrated by me please send me an email.
Blue-Ringed Octopuses are three indentified species of small octopus that live in tide pools and shallow areas in the Pacific Ocean. They are found from Japan down to Australia. They are very small - only perhaps the size of a golf ball. Blue-Ringed Octopus generally feed on small crustaceans like shrimp and crabs. They grabs their victims and use their powerful venom to paralyze them. The venom this cephalopod has is more than powerful enough to kill humans and there is no known antidote.
