The Bobcat was completed on 9.05.09. Living in the Bay Area it's always a thrill to catch a glimpse of these wonderful felines. They're elusive, but if you're in the right place and time you can have a rewarding experience witnessing these impressive cats. After living here for over 10 years, I've only ever encountered one once. The drawing is based on a photo taken by my talented friend and fellow nature enthusiast Jacob Kirkland.
The Bobcat is a predatory mammal of the Felidae family. They are found from southern Canada into northern Mexico. The cat is a highly adaptable predator and can be found in many different environments such as wooded areas, semi-deserts, edges of urban areas and swamps. It is opportunistic hunter that will eat prey ranging from insects to small deer. The Bobcat is an excellent climber and, like all cats, has a good sense of smell and sight. Adult male Bobcats range from 28 to 40 inches long weighing about 25 pounds on average. The Bobcat is an important animal in native American mythology.
