Artist's notes:

The Canadian Lynx was completed on 1/30/2009. I always enjoy drawing one of the 'big cats' even when they aren't quite so big - like the beautiful lynx. Their massive feet are simply amazing! I have never seen one in the wild, but perhaps I'll get the chance one day. The drawing is based on a photo by Jean Kern.

Information about the Canadian Lynx:

The Canadian Lynx is a North American mammal belonging to the cat family. It ranges across Canada and into Alaska, and in some states in the U.S. Ongoing reintroduction projects are trying to bring the lynx back into areas where it once lived. The lynx is a predator, hunting hare, rodents and birds. It will occasionally take prey larger than itself such as deer. It is a solitary animal and very secretive. It is generally active at night and needs a large territory to hunt. The Canadian Lynx is considered threatened in the lower 48 states of the U.S.
