

I *believe* this drawing was completed in 2005 (for some reason I neglected to date and sign it like I usually do) and the digital tinting added in 2007. Again, the shell of this turtle really makes the drawing and the highlights give it the depth needed for the eye to understand the shape of the carapace.
The Chinese Box Turtle - also called the Snake-Eating Turtle, Yellow-margined Box Turtle or the Golden-headed Turtle - is found in central China, as well as Taiwan and Japan. These box turtles are highly omnivorous, eating soil invertebrates (worms, slugs and snails) as well as plants, fruits and vegetables.
