Watching clownfish dodge and duck out of their sea anemone world is truly a wonder. They always look as though they really enjoy themselves. This illustration was completed on Wednesday (10/16/2008) Again, it took a day longer than I thought it would, but I think the illustration works pretty well. I used several different reference photos for the drawing and really enjoyed rendering the anemone strands.
The Common Clownfish - also known as the Ocellaris Clownfish or False Percula Clownfish - is a well known and popular saltwater aquarium pet. They live in and around the sea anemone 'Heteractis magnifica' which it uses for protection and shelter. The clownfish inhabits coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific. The Ocellaris Clownfish was popularized in the 2003 Disney film 'Finding Nemo.'
