This drawing is based on an photo by the talented herp photographer John White. While not especially colorful I still find great beauty in this tree frog. I've seen other morphs of this amphibian with more green and less gray, but from what I can tell this coloration is more typical of the species.
The Cope's Gray Tree Frog is an arboreal amphibian found in the southeastern part of the United States. These tree frogs are virtually indistinguishable from Grey Tree Frog (Hyla versicolor) except when they are calling. Cope's Gray Tree Frog lives in woodland areas usually not far from a permanent water source such a lake, pond or stream.
