The Fallow Deer was completed on 11.25.2010. I'm slowly working my way through drawing all extant species of deer. Deer are interesting to draw, in general because of the distinctive antlers which occur only on them and close relatives like elk and moose. The illustration is based on a photo by Clive Dodd.
The Fallow Deer is a slender, medium-sized Eurasian deer with a fairly long neck. They are native to the much of Europe. It has also established populations in the Middle East, Australia, as well as North and South America.
