The Giant Pacific Octopus was completed on 2.5.2011. After hunting for these amazing amphibians in and around the Bay Area (and finding some - although not full sized adults) I've wanted to draw one. This is one of those odd drawing I thought - at first - I might have drawn too small. But the drawing did some together the more I worked on it. The color version I think turned out pretty good.
Giant Pacific or Costal Giant Salamanders are large amphibians native to damp, cool forests areas with streams, lakes or other bodies of water nearby throughout much of the northern Pacific Coast. These salamanders will consume anything they can overpower and fit into their mouths, including small rodents, lizards, frogs, invertebrates and other salamanders. They are the largest terrestrial salamander in North America reaching lengths up to 13 inches (34 cm) They are protected from being collected or killed in British Columbia under the Wildlife Art.
