This is one of my earliest animal drawings, completed in 1998 when I was living in Germany. I've also added the Hawksbill , Loggerhead and Leatherback Sea Turtles, The hand-tinting to the black and white image was added in 2007. The background was replaced in 2008.
Green Sea Turtles live in tropical waters all over the world. The only time they emerge from water is when they're nesting. They are called Green Sea Turtles because of the color of the flesh. They grow to about 4 feet and weight over 400 pounds. Males are larger than females and have longer tails. Despite widespread laws designed to protect and preserve them, Green Sea turtles are listed as an endangered species.
