The Green Tree Frog was completed on 6.9.2010. Frogs, one of my favorite subjects to draw, are also one of my most loved animals on the planet. Something about their inoffensive nature, their large eyes and their inability to avoid being captured by small children all make them very dear to my heart. The Green Treefrog drawing is based on a photo by Jake Scott.
The American Green Treefrog is a species of New World treefrogs. It is a member of the genus Hyla. These lovely green amphibians are common throughout much of the southeastern wetlands of the United States. The coloration of these frogs can vary somewhat from bright yellow-olive to lime green. They are the official amphibian of Georgia and Louisiana. Despite climate change and habitat loss, these frogs are not considered. These handsome little frogs make popular pets and do very well in captivity.
