The line art version of the Indian Star Tortoise was completed in 2003 and the digital tinting was added in 2007. The patterns on this tortoise are simply amazing. It certainly deserves to be coveted by people who have tortoises as pets! But of course I prefer they stay in the wild, and unfortunately zoos, where it can be guaranteed these amazing reptiles are preserved and bred to assure their future.
The Indian Star Tortoise gets its name from the star patterns on its grayish blue shell. This tortoise can be found in dry areas and scrub forest in India and Sri Lanka. The shell patterning disrupts the outline of the tortoise as it sits in the shade of vegetation. They are mostly herbivorous and feed on grasses, fallen fruit, flowers and leaves of succulent plants.
