The Jackson's Chameleon was completed on 2.17.2010. Until recently, I had mistakenly labeled a Mountain Chameleon as a Jackson's. Well, this didn't sit too well with my reptile friends, and - while I try to be as accurate as possible - I make mistakes. So I relabeled the Mountain and created this drawing. The drawing is based on a photo by Fabián Aguirre.
The Jackson's Chameleon is an African lizard consisting of of three subspecies. They are native to the humid, cooler regions of Kenya and Tanzania. They are smaller chameleons, with adults generally growing to 12 inches. Only the males have horns. They are very popular in the pet trade. Unlike many of the chameleons they do not lay eggs but rather give birth to 8-30 offspring.
