Drawing a big cat is always fun. Sometimes fur can be tricky for me, but when it's short like this it usually turns out looking good. This drawing was done in 2004 and the digital tinting added in 2007. It's a pretty old drawing, so I'm not sure what year it was actually done.
Leopards are large predators - males can weigh up 200 pounds - who range throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa, although they can be found in a variety of environments, including grasslands, savannahs, rainforests and mountainous forests. their fur color can vary depending on the region. The black spots they have are called 'rosettes' and both the males and females have them and they are as unique to each leopard as fingerprints. They are not considered threatened, but in unprotected areas, they are vulnerable.
