Information about the Manatee or Sea Cow:

The Manatee or Sea Cow is a large, gray aquatic mammal with bodies that taper to a flat, paddle-shaped tail. They are found in shallow coastal areas, but can also be found in shallow rivers, estuaries, and canals. The average adult manatee is about 9.5 feet long and weighs between 800-1,200 pounds. Manatees are endangered and are now federally protected. It is the official marine mammal of the state of Florida.
