The Mountain Bluebird was drawn for a field guide for the Reno/Lake Tahoe area (that is still in production at this time.) UPDATE 2.22.2011: the company recently commissioned a few more related images, so *perhaps* the guide might go to print sometime in the near future. If/when that happens I'll post links to images of the printed piece.
The Mountain Bluebird is a medium-sized bird weighing about an ounce, with a length of about 6-8 inches. They are migratory and range from Mexico to Alaska. As the name implies they are found in mountainous areas throughout the Western United States, where they feed on insects and berries. During the winter these birds may forage in flocks. It is the state bird of Idaho and Nevada.
