This drawing is based on a photo by William Flaxington. This was one of my earliest frog drawings and still one of my favorites. The Pacific Tree Frogs amaze me with their color variations - which makes me think I should perhaps do another morph - maybe a green one?
The Pacific Tree Frog or Pacific Chorus Frog is a common species ranging from southern British Columbia in Canada down through Baja California. They can be found as far east as Montana. These frogs inhabit a variety of habitats including ponds, streams and lakes but can also sometimes be found in forests and grassy meadows. It is the state amphibian of Washington. It is one of the few frog species that not only appears to not be in decline, but is actually expanding its range.
