I originally drew three different Mantellas, but this is the only one I decided to keep and digitally tint. They're not as striking as poison dart frogs, but I still think they are very cool frogs.
The Painted or Malagasy Mantella is native to dense rainforests of western Madagascar. The have very distinct coloring, generally being black and yellow with orange legs. Sometimes they have a green stripe running along the tops of the eyes. Like other mantellas they are fairly small frogs - only a couple inches long. Due to habitat destruction they are considered endangered. Because of their beauty and hardiness they are popular as pets.
