The Parson's Chameleon was completed on 4.30.2010. Chameleons are a passion of mine, as are all reptiles. The colors achieved by these lizards is astonishing. It makes them a wonderful subject to draw. I love their oddly shaped hands! The drawing is based on a photo by Thor Hakonsen.
The Parson's chameleon is a true Old World chameleon and member of the Family Chamaeleonidae. native to small and isolated pockets of primary rainforest in eastern and northern Madagascar. It is among the largest chameleons in the world - growing from 19 to 26 inches long. Males are slightly larger than the females. Although demand for chameleons in the pet industry is high, Parson's Chameleons is illegal to import from their native country.
