The Pine Barrens Tree Frog was completed on 10.10.2010. With this species, I drew more closely to completing all the tree frog native to North America. The Pine Barrens might be perhaps the most beautiful of these frogs. The drawing is based on a photo by Pierson Hill.
The Pine Barrens Tree Frog is a one of the smaller species of the New World tree frogs, usually measuring only about 1-3 inches long. This amphibian is usually found in brushy areas, near ponds or in peat bogs or marshes. Compared to the more widespread Green Tree Frog this has fairly limited distribution in the states of New Jersey, North and South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Pine Barrens tree frog feed on small invertebrates such as flies, slugs, moths, snails, beetles and butterflies.
