The Red Milk Snake was completed on 10.1.09. I actually bought the rights to this photo ages ago, but only got around to drawing it this month. Snakes can be tricky to draw, with the symmetrical pattern of the scales that follow the contour of the body shape. If this pattern is rendered incorrectly it really shows in the drawing.
Milk snakes are a species of kingsnake. The Red Milk Snake is one of twenty five subspecies of milk snake. Generally, these reptiles live in forested areas but may also be found in prairies or on rocky slopes. They are mostly nocturnal, feeding on insects, earthworms, lizards and small mammals. They will also eat birds and their eggs, along with frogs and even fish. Because of their even temperament, hardiness and lovely coloration milk snakes are very popular in the pet industry.
