The Red Panda Drawing is based on a photo I took in the Central Park zoo. It was completed in 2007, but then touched up in 2009 because the original was somewhat flat and uninteresting. I hope the adding of the sky and some leaves help to make it more appealing to the eye.
The Red Panda - also called the Firefox or Lesser Panda - is native to the Himalayas in Bhutan. They are a little bigger than a domestic house cat. They are critically endangered and it is believed there are less than 2,500 in the wild. The Red Panda is a herbivore and, like the Giant Panda, most of it's diet consists of bamboo shoots.
