reticulated giraffe thumb The line art illustration of the Reticulated Giraffe was completed in 2004 and color added in 2007. It was based upon a composite of various images, as well as studies done at the Oakland Zoo. This one might be up for the 're-do' pile as, looking at it now the background looks a little flat.

Information about the Reticulated Giraffe:

The Reticulated Giraffe is the tallest animal in the world. Males reach a towering 19 feet tall and weigh between 2400 and 4250 pounds. Females measure up to 17 feet tall and weigh between 1540 and 2600 pounds. Much of this height, naturally, is because of the giraffe’s incredibly long neck, which can be 8 feet in length and can weigh almost 500 pounds. The giraffe’s neck, which is taller than most humans are, it is made of only 7 bones which is the same number of bones that are in the human neck.
