The Slow Loris was completed on 5/1/2009. This is one of my favorite drawings to date. A fantastic image was supplied by my friend Stephanie - who is the staff photographer at the Houston Zoo - and it was used as the basis for the drawing. These animals are amazing and their massive eyes so arresting and wondrous. I also think their hands are very cute and very distinctive.
Slow Lorises are native to the lush rainforests of southeast Asia. They are tree dwelling primates who are rarely seen outside of the forest canopy. The Slow Loris is a nocturnal predator feeding mainly on insects, bird eggs and small birds and mammals. All three species of loris are considered vulnerable or endangered.
