The Swift Fox was completed on 5.11.2010. The fox is another of my favorite subjects. Again, fur poses a problem to the process as it's a little tough to render a fluffly, whitish colored subject matter using a black medium (ink.) But with sparing use of the ink, then lightly adding the digital tinting I believe the texture and form of the animal is conveyed.
The Swift Fox is a small, cat-sized canid native to the western grasslands of North America. It is closely related to the Kit Fox. While populations of this animal have dropped in some areas and was even thought to have been extinct in Canada, it is not considered endangered. Like all foxes it is omnivorous and feeds on a variety of plant matter, animals, carrion and even insects such as beetles and grasshoppers. The Swift Fox prefers to inhabit deserts and short-grass prairies. They are primarily nocturnal, spending much of the daytime asleep in dens.
