The Tiger Salamander line art drawing was completed in 2005, and the digital tinting was added in 2007.
Tiger Salamanders include 5-6 subspecies of salamanders in the US. They are also called mudpuppies. They are large amphibians, growing up to over 13 inches. It is the most widely distributed salamander in North America. They can be found in prairies, freshwater marshes and open, dry woodland areas. While some of the subspecies are considered endangered, unlike many other amphibians tiger salamanders are abundant and not under any obvious threats.
