The Timber Wolf is a do over from an earlier drawing. Being from Minnesota, which the northern part has it's share of these impressive predators, I've had the extreme pleasure of actually seeing a few of them in the wild. Until I saw one, I was always under the impression they were about the size of an average dog. How wrong I was! They are much larger and I would certainly not want to have one after me. The drawing is based on a photo by Andrew Kandel
The Gray or Timber Wolf is a mammal of the order Carnivora. The Timber Wolf is the largest member of the family Canidae. Its shoulder height ranges from 26–36 inches and its weight typically varies between 70–135 pounds. As evidenced by studies of DNA sequencing and genetic drift the gray wolf shares a common ancestry with the domestic dog.
