The Yellow-Banded Poison Dart Frog was part of a series of four dart frogs drawn in 2005. The digital tinting was added in 2007, then redone in 2008. I don't recall how long exactly it took me to fill in the black parts of this frog, but I'd estimate about 10,000 dots and 5-7 hours on that aspect of the drawing alone.
The Yellow-banded poison dart frog (also called the yellow-headed poison dart frog or bumblebee poison frog)is an amphibian native to the northern part of South America in Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil. This frog is normally found in very humid conditions on trees or rocks. It is commonly seen in leaf litter thought too dry for other Dendrobatids to survive. Unlike others of it's kind, this poison dart can handle less humid conditions.
