Information about the Yosemite Toad:The Yosemite Toad is considered a 'true toad.' It was once very common in the high elevations of the Sierra Nevada mountains. These toads are perhaps the most colorful of the toads found in North America. They are found in damp meadows and pine forests except when they are breeding in the months of May to July. Because of short summers in their native habitat they are only active for 4-5 months a year. Due to habit loss, pesticides and the chytrid fungus they are now endangered. | Description: Fine art illustration of a Yosemite Toad. The Yosemite Toad was completed on 6.17.09. It's my goal to draw all of the amphibians in the state of California. I'm not sure I'll make it, but here's another gorgeous toad to add to the library. The drawing is based on a photo by Rob Bingham.
